open letter to every downhearted person (including me sometimes)

Dear downhearted person,

I know you're sad, unmotivated, discouraged, I don't need to know why to say: I understand you. Everyone has been through this thousands of times in his life. Life is made of ups and downs, and ups would not be here if there wasn't downs, and vice-versa.

But life is especially about defeating downs when they come. Life is far more important, you shouldn't waste it in thinking about what happened, and about the fact that you could have done better. Surely you can't change what has happened, but you can change what is happening.

Get up. Let it go. Shake it off. Go out for a walk. Run until you're so tired you can't feel sadness anymore. BREATHE.

Pick up the saddest book you heard about and let your heart get so wrenched that it fills the empty space in it. Pick up the happiest  you've heard about and let it fill you with all its happiness. A book is probably your most loyal friend.

If you don't feel it, pick up another book. And then another one, and then another one...

Write all your negative feelings in a piece of paper and then throw it away or burn it.

Get free.

Then write all the things that make you happy in life. It can be a book, a character, a person, the most stupid thing you own, basically ANYTHING. Stick this paper to your desk, or put it in a cadre and hang it on your wall. And then read it everyday.

Listen to music that fits your mood. I promise it helps.

I hope this will help you cheer up, and forget about whatever happened to you. And don't forget, there'll always be someone out there who will care about you.

Yours, truly

Someone who cares about you

  3. Thank you so much for this post. I'll remember to read this everytime I feel bad - which happens quite oftenly. As a person who pushes herself to be better everytime, especially on school, I understand what is like to feel like you aren't good enough. Reading your words make me feel special. Thanks for that! 💟
